Biographical Sketch
Liejia Qian was born in 1965. He received the Ph.D. degree in optics from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1989. From 1991 to 1993, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Politecnico de Milano, Italy, working in nonlinear optics and beam propagation. In 1993, he joined SIOM as a Senior Researcher. He spent the academic years of 1997–1999 on leave at the School of Applied Engineering Physics (AEP), Cornell University. After 6 years in the Chair position at the Department of Optical Science and Engineering, Fudan University, since 2009 he has been a distinguished Professor in Physics Department, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
